When I saw this P12,999 tour package to China, I was immediately suspicious. First, I thought it was a scam. I even called the tour operator to check if they are a legit business. Then I imagined the bare minimum – cramped hotel, hostel-type accommodations, no meals, and unguided tours. But, boy, this tour exceeded our expectations!
Here are 5 things that surprised us the most about this SUPER-AFFORDABLE tour (in a good way!) - a Travelique Travel and Tours review.
Honestly, we were ready for hostel vibes, but we got nice, clean, and comfortable hotel rooms with actual space to walk around. Twin-sharing rooms; no bunk beds. No bathroom-sharing with fellow tourists, no sketchy and smelly bathrooms. No ‘surot’. The quality is more than enough to rest after a long day of touring.
A full stomach is a happy traveler! Much to our pleasant surprise, both breakfast and lunch were covered every day – and they weren’t just plain rice and eggs. Think authentic Chinese dim sum, roasted duck, stir-fried noodles; the meals were good and filling to the stomach. That's additional savings since you don't have to spend much on meals. Plus, you get to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine!
Typically, if a tour package were this cheap, you would probably expect it to be a free and easy type of tour. But, no! This tour was tightly packed and fast-paced. Imagine, in just 4 days, we visited Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangdong, and Zhuhai! We had loads of selfies and opportunities for picture-taking! We even got to walk on a glass bridge!
No luxury frills, no “influencer filters,” yes, but if you’re traveling with friends and family, that’s all you need. There were plenty of sightseeing, food, group laughs, and IG-worthy spots that made this a memorable trip!
Think about it, where else in Asia or other parts of the world can PHP 12,999 take you? That’s just about the price of a domestic tour package, and we’re not talking about Coron or Batanes. For only PHP 12,999, this affordable China tour delivered real value. Perfect for first-time travelers to China, families on a budget, or groups looking for a sulit getaway!
Before you book this tour, here are some things to consider.
Mandatory Shop Stops
We were brought to specific shops that were apparently mandatory to visit. However, buying something is not required (remember that, please). Some items were interesting, but we felt the prices were on the higher side, and it really felt like it was part of the itinerary’s deal with suppliers.
Don’t get me wrong – there’s nothing for adults-only activity or spots on this tour. It’s just that there’s no time for playgrounds, theme parks, or breaks – it’s a packed schedule for sightseeing. So, if you’re thinking of bringing your kids, think again. It’s great for adults, but boring for kids.
This isn’t a tour for those who want to explore malls or shop freely. The itinerary is really tight, and there’s no opportunity for personal side trips. Also, as a tourist holding a 144 Group Visa, you might incur a violation if you separate from the group tour.
Because there wasn’t much time to shop around, the tour guide sold us souvenirs on board. While some items were okay, others felt overpriced – it’s best to compare prices when you can. Again, just remember that it’s not compulsory to buy from the tour guide.
See what it looked like in real life.
